Rooney: Hopefully they will be chasing me around.

Now that long term Manchester United players Wes Brown and John O’Shea have left Old Trafford and moved on to Sunderland in order to try and secure more first team football ahead of the new Premier League season. The departure of Brown and O’Shea means that Neville, Scholes, Van Der Sar and the pair have all left United this summer and the amount of experience that has departed is shocking to say the least, totting up over 2000 matches between them. Despite this, Rooney has spoken out about his excitement for the games ahead that he will play against his former team-mates in the up and coming Premier League season:

“I am looking forward to it even more. It is always nice to play against former team-mates and hopefully they will be chasing me around. It is always sad when your friends and team-mates leave but you can understand it. The two of them didn’t get much football last year and they are ambitious and want to be playing every week.”
