Manchester United have today officially released their 25 man squad for the upcoming Champions League 2011 campaign and there are few real surprises in the squad. The inclusion of Diouf, Gibson and Kuszczak comes after none of them were moved on in the transfer window and indicates that none of the 3 will be loaned out before the start of the Champions League campaign – it is a shame because I don’t think that any of them deserve to get any game time because of the plethora of other players I feel will get the chance ahead of them. Kuszczak has had his chances and I can’t wait for him to be offloaded but maybe Diouf and Gibson have been given more time by SAF to turn their careers at United around. It is probably more likely that the only reason Gibson is still at United is because he injured himself before a move away from Old Trafford could be completed, a well timed injury. As for Diouf, he faces an uphill struggle with Berbatov/Rooney/Hernandez/Welbeck/Macheda and Owen all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Update on the situation…

@Gaz @tevezsmells Pogba isn’t eligible for the CL this season due to complicated UEFA academy rulings as he signed in ’09. He can play in it from next season onwards.

SAF must think he isn’t ready mentally. European football is a big step up from first season of reserves for any player.

Not included. Likely he will get his first team experience in the domestic cups this year.
