The anticipation of many United fans who are waiting to see Pogba make his competitive debut for the club might not have much longer to wait after SAF admitted that he is set to get his first team chances in the Carling Cup this season, with the history swept fixture of Leeds away the platform on which Pogba can perform:

“Pogba’s in the first-team training set-up now. So that’s the first step. After that, it’ll likely depend on when we decide to make changes. He’ll probably be involved in the League Cup and that’ll be his chance to establish himself in the squad.”

Pogba is considered one of United’s outstanding young prospects after he was brought into the academy in 2009. He may well have been considered for a Champions League squad place but due to UEFA rulings, he wasn’t eligible for selection this year due to not being at the club academy for long enough but will be able to play from next year on wards. These are exciting times for what is one of the youngest United squads in many years after a summer of renewal. Few could have predicted what a fantastically consistent start to the season Tom Cleverley would of had, nor would they have imagined how well Danny Welbeck would perform partnering Rooney or how quickly Phil Jones would settle down into the United framework. SAF has waved his magic wand once again this summer and the squad looks as strong as ever, a statement I scarcely believed I would say after Paul Scholes retired and we never replaced him. Not trusting SAF? Bad idea.
