This morning, Stewart Gardner, who works for MUTV, interviewed Sir Alex Ferguson. The situation regarding Dimitar Berbatov arose during the interview. Earlier this morning it was reported that Turkish club Galatasaray were interested in the seemingly out-of-favour Manchester United striker. Unal Aysal, president of the Turkish club, has confirmed their interest in the Bulgarian striker, who is reported to be worth £6m.

Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV, “Nothing has happened with Dimitar and he’ll join the tour to South Africa and China,” the boss told MUTV. He’s a fantastic footballer.” He added, “It wasn’t a great season for him last season, partly because I settled more with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck… and Chicharito. I don’t think I treated Dimitar unfairly but he can feel disappointed that he didn’t get more football. He’s a fantastic talent.”

The Bulgarian striker is certain to travel to South Africa and China, with the significantly weakened Manchester United squad, when they leave Manchester a couple of days before their first match.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that the striker is still in his plans, but does this mean he will still be with the Red Devils at the end of the transfer window, or is it that Manchester United nor the player himself, have found a club for him to sign for?

I would like to see Berbatov stay at Manchester United for another season, as the Red Devils are a little light on strikers, with only Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez as established forwards. We still have Federico Macheda, but it is rumoured he might be going on loan to Turkish club Beşiktaş. Manchester United could also use new signing, Nick Powell as a striker, who looks to have a brilliant future ahead of him. Berbatov can be frustrating at times, but he is a clinical striker, who when in form can be a lot of danger to the oppositions defence.

Hopefully within the next few weeks, we will find out of the Bulgarian is destined to leave this summer, or play his last contracted season at Old Trafford.

The full interview with Sir Alex Ferguson will be shown on MUTV at 18:30 GMT this evening.
