2005-2012. 205 matches. 27 goals. Four League titles, three Carling Cups, one Champions League and one Club World Cup – Five goals against Arsenal, two against Chelsea and Liverpool, one against AC Milan. The big game player.

QPR have officially announced the signing of Park Ji Sung from United on a two year deal for a reported fee of £2 million. Whilst we will all be sad to see him go, Park has certainly left behind some glorious memories.

Andrea Pirlo may have got the better of everybody in Euro 2012 but Park Ji Sung gave a textbook man marking performance against the playmaker back in the 4-0 triumph over AC Milan at Old Trafford in 2010.

“We can talk about Rooney – and he was certainly deadly – but Park’s discipline, intelligence and sacrifice won us the match tactically. Pirlo is such an important player for them.”

Sir Alex speaking to MUTV

Rio Ferdinand made sure people remembered Park’s performances against Milan after Pirlo’s superb Euro 2012.

Park chased Pirlo round the pitch like a shadow, giving him no space or time to dictate the play. He restricted him to only 21 passes in the whole game and United reaped the benefit, exerting full control over the game. Not only did he quash the threat of Milan going forward but he managed to net himself a goal as well in the 4-0 romp.

It was a complete performance from the asian sensation and it is one that will be held fondly in the memories of those that saw it for years to come.

Champions League – Chelsea, Old Trafford, 2011

Didier Drogba equalised for Chelsea at Old Trafford in the Champions League quarter final and fans minds quivered at the thought of another away goal. Cue an instant response from the big game connoisuer – a rifled left foot finish into the bottom corner from Park sent Old Trafford wild. All of this action within 60 seconds may not have been good for the heart but it was great for the excitement.

Five goals against the Gooners

Park Ji Sung just loved to score against Arsenal didn’t he? Just under 20% of his total goals at United came against them. Arsenal may have seen the back of him in a United shirt but QPR will always be fired up to beat their London rivals – let’s hope so. Of all his goals against Arsenal, it is his effort in the Champions League victory at the Emirates that I will remember most fondly.

The best chant ever?

He served his time at United and it is definitely a fond goodbye for Ji Sung. We wish him all the best at Queen Park Ji Sung Rangers.
