Shinji Kagawa wins his first Manchester United honours

Shinji Kagawa has been named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for August after receiving 59 percent of the overall vote, with David De Gea his closest contender with 31 percent.

Right from his first two minutes against AmaZulu FC on the 2012 pre-season tour, it was obvious that United had finally landed the creative talent they had been craving. He took his fine pre-season soon into the Premier League and the two-footed diminutive play maker was Manchester United’s man of the match against Everton with his incisive passing and intelligent play.

On his Old Trafford debut against Fulham in the next match, Kagawa bagged his first competitive goal in Manchester United colours, reacting fastest to a parry from Schwarzer to knock the ball in. ┬áHe was instrumental in the quality of football that United were playing that day and the last 20 minutes of that first half was United’s best attacking performance so far this season.

Few fans could of expected the Japanese player to settle down at United so quickly but those that watched him in the Bundesliga over the past two years would of known what to expect. He is a fantastic natural talent and United really have bagged themselves a bargain in him this year. He has all the makings of a quality footballer and if his early season form is anything to go by, who is to say he can’t become a strong contender for player of the year.
