Manchester United stars nominated for multiple awards

Antonio Valencia has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Year Award at the 2012 Northwest Football Awards.

He will be up against Vincent Kompany, Martin Skrtel, John Heitinga, Gary Caldwell, Yakubu and Adam Bogdan.

Considering Valencia’s season only started in November due to injury, it is a testament to how impressive he was when on the pitch.

The winger had a clean sweep of awards at the Manchester United annual award ceremony last year and he is likely to be in the running for this award too.

As well as Antonio Valencia being nominated for the Player of the Year award, Nick Powell is nominated for two awards alongside youngster Mats Daehli who is nominated for one.

Nick Powell is nominated for both the League Two Player of the Year Award and the Rising Star Award, for which Mats Daehli is also nominated for.

Voting for the awards is now open here and closes on Monday 29 October.
