Manchester United take 20 man squad to Braga including Smalling and Welbeck

by Sam Peoples

De Gea, Lindegaard; Rafael, Evans, Ferdinand, Büttner, Smalling, Evra; Cleverley, Giggs, Anderson, Nani, Valencia, Carrick, Young, Powell; Rooney, Welbeck, Chicharito, van Persie.

Manchester United have taken a full squad to face Braga tomorrow night in the Champions League.

The inclusion of Danny Welbeck is a good sign considering he didn’t make the bench against Arsenal after the defeat to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup but it is the return of Chris Smalling that is the most welcome news from the squad.

He makes return to the squad after being injured since the start of the season and it is a welcome return for the English defender considering how stretched Manchester United’s defence has been at points this season. Smalling has really impressed in his first two years at United with his versatility giving him a lot of game time and with a busy schedule up ahead, it gives Sir Alex real options.

Special mention should go to Nick Powell who travels with the squad despite playing 90 minutes for the U21s against Stoke City last night, a game in which Powell scored this super solo goal.

Anything but a loss against Braga tomorrow night will all but seal our progress to the knockout stages and a victory will cap off a mightily impressive group stage performance, especially considering our troubles last season.

man utd need a player like James to strengthen the team. A quality player will always be expensive to buy. So sir Alex go for this one. Don’t miss him the way you lost out on Hazard and Moura.

The return of Smalling is highly welcome. Welbeck is a good Lad and should be used.Powell is gaining some good exposure. Beat Braga to pulp.

Good to av you back again. I hope your comeback will add more strenght to our porous defence. Welcome on the feed again. SAF we still need a central defender and a blocking midfeeder.
