Lewandowski wanted by United in €25 million deal according to German media

by Sam Peoples

According to respected German newspaper Bild.de, Robert Lewandowski could be joining Manchester United this summer in a deal worth a reported €25 million.

The Polish international, who has scored 40 goals in 83 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, is one of the hottest striking properties in Europe and Bild has “information” that Lewandowski and Dortmund are ready to do business with United.

The direct translation from the paper is as follows:

“The days of Dortmund’s star striker Robert Lewandowski (24) in the league are probably numbered. From England, now a mega-offer for the Pole has been rushed to the table. Manchester United is a draw this summer with a €25 million offer.

“Lewandowski (who has a contract with Dortmund until 2014) is ready to sign on a five-year contract. Per season, he would earn approximately €5 million. Borussia Dortmund will collect about €22 million from the transfer fee.”

Lewandowski, who currently earns €2.5 million per year, would see his salary doubled according to these reports but despite his clear talent and ability, Manchester United simply do not need him.

Another striker? When we have got Rooney, van Persie, Hernandez and Welbeck? No. In terms of attacking options, Manchester United are already spoilt. Our squad deficiencies are in a thin midfield and a leaky defence.

It is hard to ignore these Lewandowski rumours because they keep popping up every week. Bild is a respectable source and they were spot on with the Kagawa story last season, so there may be some truth in this.

We’ll keep following the story and updating you with the latest information about the potential move.

Its good to get lewandowski on the summer trunsfer, but for now we have to face the spring transfer window as we really need strootman and also if possible wesley sneijder, and for the summer transfer it would be fantastic if we get to buy showcross, lewandowski and james rodriguez!!! Let’s go united GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.

Buy lewarndowski and sell welbeck out. James Rodriguez to replace Luis Nani, let Paul scholes retire and buy Gortz for us. Also let fletcher retire so that their wages will be use 4 something else.

Welbeck just aint good enough and for a big club we shouldnt be waiting around coz for a striker he just doesn’t score goals!!!!!!! I only count 3 strikers at united and lewandowski would be a long term replacement for van persie…….so yes we need him………we need good players not average joes

We need another winger if Nani goes.but to tell you the truth,we need lewandosky. I think welbek should be sold, sent on loan or be relegated to the second team

Tom, I firmly believe that Rooney will be sold in the Summer and that is why Lewandowski it is said has already agreed a deal with United.
Rooney may be the big star at Old Trafford but his performances are very hit and miss nowadays and it could be that Sir Alex wants to move him on before his transfer value dips.
As for Hernandez and Welbeck, Hernandez will not be leaving the club any time soon, he is the future but Welbeck is not the finished article yet by any means and should Van Persie be injured, who would lead the line as effectively as he does?
Lewandowski to OT? Yes please and the sooner the better!

Bild is a tabloid, not a respected publication and it’s the butt of many a joke.

The story is being pressed very strongly in Germany and they are convinced that Robert Lewandowski is joining Manchester United in the summer. I agree that when you analyse the situation you can’t quite understand why Ferguson would want another striker. It will go either two way. Lewandowski is being signed to replace Wayne Rooney, who might be playing out his last season with Man Utd. I seriously doubt this notion but I cannot see Hernandez or Welbeck being allowed to leave.

The next theory is that Ferguson will move Rooney into midfield permanently and we will also see a formation change for good. I mean he has teased the diamond but it might be the way he intends to play next season. We are likely to sell Luis Nani in the summer, and maybe Ferguson will not replace him with another winger now. We believed someone like James Rodriguez or Wilfred Zaha would join, but maybe Ferguson really wants Lewandowski.

Kagawa……………..Cleverley

……………..Rooney…………….

Van Perise……Lewandowski
