manchester united wigan team play barcelona

Manchester United have been far from fluent this season but today against Wigan, the screw got turned and United kicked into another gear. This particular piece of football-gasm, courtesy of the always excellent Beautifully Red, was just superb. Cleverley, Giggs, van Persie, Hernandez and Kagawa all got involved in the act showcasing just how neat United’s passing game can be.

A fully fit Kagawa working with a red hot van Persie, an incisive Cleverley and a returning Rooney? United’s team is shaping up superbly for 2013.

Are the reds doing ok? Oh! yes. Are they vintage? Ehm, not just yet! Will they win EPL ’12/13? Well, very likely. Yet wiith all the RVPs, W Rooney and Kagawas in our ranks, we are still not continental grade; as will become obvious in the CL. The English game is still too predictable and not ‘flairly’ enough. Plus there are too many fudamental/unforced errors, even by us dominant reds. Cut them out SAF and we can mix it with the elite Euro company. For now we are work-in-progress, at best.

Man Utd played some great football today and hopefully we are coming into the type of form needed to win the title. I’m even more pleased with the 2 clean sheets in a row that we have managed to achieve. If we can actually start defending better and keep more clean sheets then we will have a great chance of winning the title this season. There is still a lot of work to do and 7 points is not a huge lead, but with Kagawa returning and Rooney still to hit top form, we have a good chance.
