Arsenal target dreams of Old Trafford move

Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has told French football magazine France Football that playing for Manchester United would be a ‘dream come true,’ despite being heavily linked to bitter rivals Arsenal.

When asked about his ambitions for 2013, Mbiwa said, “My dream is to play wearing the shirt of United at Old Trafford.

“In my dreams, I am sliding on my knees towards the corner at the stadium. I am scoring a decisive goal from a corner, a header. That would be alright!

“My favourite club, without a doubt, is Manchester United.”

Born in Central African Republic, 23-year-old Mbiwa received vast praise throughout the 2011/12 season as he captained Montpellier to their first ever title. A string of consistent and impressive performances saw Mbiwa named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season, alongside the likes of Eden Hazard and Younes Belhanda.

A physical yet gifted centre back, Mbiwa has been compared to current United skipper Nemanja Vidic as well as fellow countryman Marcel Desailly for his defensive capabilities as well as his skill and pace.

Having already stated how he feels the English Premier League would suit his style of play, Mbiwa seems to have his heart set on a move across the channel and in particular, to the red side of Manchester.

Don’t sell Valencia he’s brilliant when rafa is right back they play so well together , smalling has lost his confidence for the time being and may take a while to get it back . If this French lad is that good get him fergie cause we haven’t got a leader , that’s all we are short of , oh and maybe that Celtic boy from Kenya looks good as well .

The comparisons are a bit strange. To me he plays like Gallas but he’s much stronger.

Also, are you sure he got into the team of the year? Wikipedia says his CB partner Hilton got in alongside N’Koulou, but Mbiwa isn’t listed.

Article writer here. I used the TOTY from the same magazine in which he expressed his desire to join United.
