PICTURE: Bebe celebrates scoring winning goal on Rio Ave debut

by Sam Peoples

Bebe scored the winner on his Rio Ave debut tonight against Maritimo in the Portuguese Cup in a 1-0 victory.

The win puts Rio Ave into the semi-final of the cup and it is all thanks to the goalscoring phenomenon that is Bebe.

At United, he hasn’t exactly lived up to his £7 million price tag but considering he is still only 22, he is far from the finished product yet. A move back to his homeland seemed like a great idea and judging from this instant response, it could certainly bring the best out of Bebe.

He was plucked from complete obscurity before Ferguson even saw him play and brought to Old Trafford. He struggled to settle and despite (slightly) improving performances with the U21s, we still weren’t seeing the best of him. A good stint back in Portugal with Rio Ave could change his fortunes.
