Michael Keane has extended his successful loan spell at Championship promotion hopefuls Leicester City until the end of the season.
The highly rated England U21 international began a loan spell in November before extending it until the end of January. He has now seen his loan extended further following a series of exceptional performances for the Foxes by the 20-year-old.
“It’s still a steep learning curve for he has done exceptionally well so far and I am very pleased,” said Foxes boss Nigel Pearson to BBC Radio Leicester.
Keane’s stay at the Npower Championship club was due to finish after next week’s home league clash with Wolves. However, Keane will now be a part of the team for the remainder of the season as Leicester will attempt to gain a place in next seasons Premier League.
Keane has had a very successful loan deal, being held in very high regard with the Foxes’ fans and will return to United next season a much improved player due to his invaluable game experience from his loan deal.
Given his impressive performance for United against Newcastle in the Capital One Cup alongside Scott Wootton, he has already shown what he can do on the big stage. If he could gain the holy grail of a promotion winning season with Leicester, it could be the spring board he needs to force his way into the set up at United.
