Wanyama to leave Celtic for “one of the big two clubs” says President of Kenya FA

by Sam Peoples

Victor Wanyama is on his way out of Celtic soon according to the President of Kenya’s FA Sam Nyamweya.

Wanyama will be joining up with Kenya next week for an international friendly with Libya and during a speech he was giving in Nairobi, President Nyamweya said that Wanyama will be joining “one of the big two clubs in the world”.

He said: “Wanyama will soon be joining one of the big two clubs in the world. It is an exciting moment for us, which means that Kenya is a powerhouse in football.”

Sir Alex Ferguson was at Celtic Park only a few weeks ago watching Victor Wanyama score against Dundee United in a 4-0 rout at Celtic Park and with Fletcher confirmed to be missing the rest of the season, a midfield signing could be on the cards this January.

The 21-year-old has been a key player since joining Celtic from Belgian side Beerschot in 2011 for £900,000 and Celtic are believed to value Wanyama at around £10 million after fine performances this season, including scoring against Barcelona in the famous victory at Celtic Park.

Wanyama has played 51 times for Celtic, scoring ten goals, and has established himself as a fans favourite with the clubs supporters. He became the first Kenyan player to score in the UEFA Champions League in November against Barcelona.

With a tough UEFA Champions League draw against Juventus coming up, Neil Lennon won’t want to be losing his best midfielder but if President Nyamweya is to be believed, it is already out of his hands.

Wishful thinking on the part of this Kenyan. How did he work out that its out of Celtics hands; as wanyama’s under contract for another 2 years & Celtic under no pressure to sell. Still why let the facts get in the way of some good bullshit. Get out £20 mil and they might think about it tho.
