Ferdinand: People mentioning Bale with Ronaldo and Messi don’t know football

by Sam Peoples

ferdinand-bale-tweetsRio Ferdinand took to Twitter this morning to give his own opinion on the debate that Gareth Bale can be held in the same regard as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Against West Ham on Monday night, Gareth Bale continued his fine recent scoring twice including a stunning last minute winner and bagging an assist that puts him on 15 league goals, already his best return in a Premier League season.

However, Ferdinand believes that those comparing Bale with the two best players in the world “don’t know football”, and rightly so.

Whilst Gareth Bale is no doubt one of the most in-form players in the world right now with eight goals in six games including winners against West Ham, Lyon, West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle, it is the first time we have seen such consistent form from the Welshman.

At Old Trafford this season, Gareth Bale ripped United’s slow midfield to shreds and Tottenham won for the first time since a Gary Lineker winner in 1989. However, in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane, a commanding Phil Jones performance all but nullified Bale’s influence on the game.

If Gareth Bale can reach 42 goals this season including 31 in the league, steering his side to a Premier League and Champions League double, then he can be considered a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or.

Form is temporary and class is permanent. As Ferdinand rightly points out, there is no reason to believe that if Bale can stay on his current level for 2/3 years that he can’t win the Ballon d’Or, but those that are saying it now are getting a bit carried away.

I hate ferdinand and i am a spurs fan but i have to agree with him, people who are comparing bale to messi and ronaldo’s level are mad, hes had an amazing couple of weeks and now hes as good as them , i dont think so messi and ronaldo are on a different planet to everyone else i think messi is on a different planet to ronaldo to say how good he is, but as he said if he continuously plays like this for a couple of years then you can say he is as good as them, but i dont normally agree with ferdinand but this time hes right, bale has always been a class player but the last few weeks he has been on fire and if he keeps playin at this level then you can compare him to them 2
