Finally, the international break is over and Manchester United are returning. Speaking at the pre match press conference this morning ahead of tomorrows clash against Sunderland, Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed the latest team news.

Sir Alex on latest team news…

“I don’t think there are any injuries from the internationals which is really good news.

“There’s a fair bit of tiredness and the answer to that is to make sure we get the energies back in their bodies. So there’s the recovery side to it with not much training.

“There was a fair bit of travel – Chicharito and Valencia only got in yesterday [Thursday] afternoon and the English players got back at 5am. Other than that, we’re very satisfied.”

That has to be one of Manchester United’s most successful international breaks. By my calculations, our players totted up 17 goals and assists between them and best of all, there were no injuries.

With Chicharito and Valencia only returning yesterday afternoon, they are all but ruled out of Sunderland tomorrow. Looking ahead to Chelsea on Monday, we are all hoping that Hernandez is fit in time given how much he enjoys scoring against them.

Ferguson also confirmed that Jones, Nani and Scholes are all in contention to return against Sunderland – fantastic news. Jones’ recent performances have shown how important he is to the squad and having the class of Nani and the experienced guile of Scholes returning for the run-in puts us in a strong a position as we could of hoped for.
