“I’m getting carried away – I’ve nearly fallen off the bus three times” Michael Carrick
Michael Carrick couldn’t contain himself at the end of Manchester United’s parade when Alan Keegan passed him the microphone on stage at Albert Square.
“WE’VE GOT OUR TROPHY BACK”, screamed Carrick to an elated crowd of United fans.
The 31-year old has come into his own this season and cemented himself as United’s single most important player this year.
Nominated for the PFA Player of the Year Award, named in the Team of the Year and sure to have multiple nominations in Manchester United’s Player of the Year Awards on Wednesday, there aren’t any United fans calling him a sideways footballer any more.
Instead, they are singing his name from the terraces. “It’s hard to believe it’s not Scholes, it’s Carrick you know.”
And to top off Carrick’s newborn relationship with the fans, he has joined Twitter (you can follow him here). It is not verified yet but with photos and videos from atop the parade bus, it is more than likely to be him. The fact that he has gained over 50,000 followers in less than six hours points towards that too.
