Antonio Valencia may not have had the best season domestically but it has been a different story on international duty with Ecuador where he has been in sensational form all season.
And he continued his fine run for his country with a great effort against Germany, a drilled half-volley from the edge of the box right before half-time to bring Ecuador back into the game at 4-1.
The 27-year-old only netted once for Manchester United during the Premier League season but with three assists against El Salvador, a goal against Portugal and tonight’s effort against Germany, he has been the unstoppable force for Ecuador that the fans enjoyed two years ago.
Under David Moyes, Valencia will have a big point to prove. He admitted that he was underwhelmed with his season but given the form he showed toward the end of the year, there is no reason to suggest he can’t thrive once again next season and scoring efforts like this should do his confidence the world of good.
