Manchester United take official stance on bringing Ronaldo home

Manchester United have sent out a message of warning against donating for a campaign aimed to finance the return of Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

The ‘Bring Ronaldo Home‘ campaign, which originated from a group of fans in Australia, has attracted more than 5,000 pledges since its invention last month.

It has seen fans donate an initial deposit of £10 in hope of activating the Real Madrid star’s buy-out clause which is currently set at a staggering €1bn.

And an official spokesman for the club told the Manchester Evening News that fans should stay away from the campaign.

“Manchester United would like to remind fans that decisions over additions to the squad will be made by the manager and the manager alone.

“We would not want any of our supporters to be under a false impression that anything other than this would ever be the case.”

As a campaign that has the dimmest of chances of being successful, questions have been asked as to whether the full £10 donation will be returned to the owners given that they state it wouldn’t be in their terms of conditions.

Annie Eaves and Sport Witness have attempted to get some real answers from the Bring Ronaldo Home team as has Jay from Red Flag Flying High but on all occasions, the company has dodged the questions.

And their hopes have been dented further due to the lack of involvement and support from the club. Madrid’s reluctance to sell their main man is also another sizeable hurdle to consider in one of the most far fetched campaigns to have ever existed.

Ronaldo has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks having reportedly sold his villa in Spain to cast further doubts about his future with Madrid after refusing to confirm his commitment to the club.

But no matter what happens this summer, Bring Ronaldo Home will have absolutely no say in proceedings so make sure you follow the advice of United and pledge your money elsewhere.
