David Moyes has been given a baptism of fire with his opening fixtures as Manchester United manager.
The 5o-year-old Scot will face Swansea in the Liberty Stadium in his first game as United manager and in the following two games, he will face Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in his first game at Old Trafford and travel to Anfield just a week later.
United’s record against Mourinho’s Chelsea is dismal and we won our first game at Anfield since 2008 last season when Van Persie slotted home a penalty to win.
And to top it off, United will travel to Manchester City in gameweek five which means that United will face three of the toughest away trips in the league in the first five games of the season.
He will travel to his old hunting ground Goodison Park in the run-in and face Norwich, Sunderland and Southampton in the last three fixtures of the season.
It was never going to be an easy start for Moyes to replace Sir Alex Ferguson and this is a really tough opening fixture list but, welcome to the big time Moyes.
The first set of television fixtures have not been released yet but I’d be very surprised if United’s trip to Swansea wasn’t first on the list.
