EXCLUSIVE: Brazilian striker’s agent discusses his move to Manchester United

by Sam Peoples

Bruno Gomes is a name that most Manchester United fans will know by now.

He has been in constant contact with United fans on Twitter since his trial at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson and it was believed that Gomes would sign for United when he turned 18.

The 16-year-old Brazilian striker from Desportivo Brasil has been in fine form this season and even managed to net seven goals in a single game in Brazil’s U17 league.

He will be in action with Brazil in the U17 World Cup later this month and ahead of the competition, The Peoples Person sat down with his agent Alexis Malavolta to find out the latest update about his potential move to United in the future.

What is the current situation with Bruno Gomes and Manchester United?

Bruno Gomes currently has a partnership with Manchester United. The Red’s have a purchase preference in Gomes when he is to leave Desportivo Brasil.

Have you got any sort of agreement with Manchester United yet?

If any club, Brazilian or foreign, submit an official proposal to purchase Bruno Gomes, Manchester United must match the offer as they have first refusal on him.

There is reportedly interest from Manchester City. Is this true?

There has been speculation in the international media and here in Brazil that a representative of Manchester City is watching Bruno Gomes but I cannot confirm it.

What other clubs are interested in signing Bruno Gomes?

PSV, Anzhi, Udinesi, Anderletch, Juventus, São Paulo, Gremio, Flamego, Corinthians, Palmeiras and Santos.

What club does Bruno Gomes want to join the most and why?

Bruno Gomes only thinks about playing for Manchester United. He identifies a lot with the club but everything depends on United putting forward an offer for Gomes so that he can realise his dream of playing at Old Trafford in England.

Why is Bruno Gomes such a special player?

We can say that Bruno Gomes is special on and off the field. Besides being a great athlete on the field where you can regularly see his goalscoring ability and link up play, he has a family that gives spectacular support to play football with joy.

How do you think Bruno Gomes will get on at the U17 World Cup this year?

I believe Bruno Gomes will be the revelation of the U17 World Cup and will win the Golden Boot. Everyday, he becomes more focused on achieving those goals and they are well within his reach.

The Peoples Person will be keeping an eye on the Gomes situation and will follow his progress at the U17 World Cup later this month. If there is any update with his transfer to United, you’ll here about it here first.

This could be a big season for Danny Welbeck, the striker netted just twice in the whole off last season, that is not good enough from a Man Utd striker. I hope we do sign Robert Lewandowski but, I see our priorty this summer is right fully concentrating on buying a couple off midfielders. Personally I don’t see Lewandowski staying put at Dortmand, no matter what the club states, and that’s bad news for United who will be left with the talented Bruno in the next couple of seasons.
