Wayne Rooney is on his way home from Manchester United’s Asian tour after sustaining a hamstring injury in training that will rule him out for a month.
The club released the following statement:
“Following a scan this evening on a hamstring injury sustained in training, it has been decided that Wayne Rooney should return home immediately for further assessment and rehabilitation.”
Either Rooney has got terrible luck to pull his hamstring on the first day of the tour or this is more than a coincidence.
If Rooney is out for a month it means that he will be available for the start of the Premier League season but the big question that remains is whether Rooney will be a United player when the season starts, and this injury is going to do nothing but increase speculation that he is heading for the exit door at Old Trafford.
It means that Moyes will not be able to speak to Rooney face-to-face until the end of the tour in three weeks time and Rooney will only have his own advisors to talk to.
