David Moyes has emphatically claimed that he has no budget to stick to in his first summer as Manchester United manager.
Moyes’ first game as manager might not have gone to plan with a 1-0 loss to Singha All-Stars but the Scot sounds very confident about what he can do in terms of bringing players into Old Trafford.
‘There’s no budget here, you go get who you want to get, just go and do it’, Moyes is quoted as saying in The Sun.
“We are looking at the best players. I do think it’s important that we show people we are carrying on the traditions and trying to take the club forward.
“I will not name anybody but certainly we are always looking at the best players.”
Given the Thiago transfer saga, United fans had hoped that the club were finally in the market for a new midfield signing this year and Moyes gave the strongest hint yet that we are indeed looking to sign a midfielder.
“I think we are trying to strengthen in a couple of areas,” he continued.
“We are short in midfield. We are also a club which tends to invest in the youth side, so you can expect us to go for players in that age group.
“We are working hard to make sure the first signing is the right one.
“I have been left a really good team and I want to add to it sensibly.”
While this all sounds splendid, the validity of the quotes are questionable given that they have been not reported in any other publication.
But reporter Charlie Wyett earlier confirmed that he had met with Moyes in Bangkok, so they may well be exclusive quotes to The Sun.
now home after 54 hours in Thailand. No jetlag – was not there long enough. Great to chat with David Moyes in Bangkok tho – I wish him well

If they are indeed true, then Moyes has strayed away from his very closely guarded transfer dealings by admitting that he has as much money as he requires this year to strengthen the squad, which will come as music to the ears of United fans.

don’t blame david moyes, we have been missing targets for a long time. but it needs to change and we need to get serious, 1 midfielder 1 defensive midfielder and a winger. end off, mufc they always score!
Wt man utd need is jst a big name.. we dont need all those players u guys r goin 4… wt hapened to the fabregas? Its eida we sign fabregas or we sign cabaye…. its beta dan strootman and candreva or wt u kal it
Even if Moyes not able to sign anyone than
Fellaini than this is big upgrade for united, should add creative midfielder also
Hmm…united fans u 4got 1 thing moyes he didn’t winning even calling cup over 11yrs at everton, how can u expect he can win sometin at united if it’s d case we are decievin ourselve united 4 ever.
we really needs midfielders, the quality ones that would help micheal, its high time for united to compete in midfield.united needs the likes of thiago, candreva or strootman.
United will be fighting it out with the likes of Tottenham for the fourth spot… i pity u
Moyes,if u want to stay longer as united manager, then sign a world class mildfielders.if u do this, united would be among the contenders of not only EPL but UEFA champions league.if u don’t consolidate united milfield, how would u face clubs like barcelona,Bayern munich,PSG,madrid and other big spenders in Europe?
but for me wat I think is that moyes or wat do u call him is jst came to destroy united it for gud. which money r there now last yr we buy many players where did united get this money from who? that was not sir Alex his own money. so wat we need to do, we will jst be patient even if he want to united into evaton that will be up to the pipo who brought him into big team like this. united for ever even if united go to division I will follow. God bless united
I feel that Thiago was a prime target for MUFC but having lost to Bayern Moyes is saying that thiago was not an important target so as to hide his failure. It’s a good tactic but I want to be proved wrong and see Thiago playing for the red devils.
a u mad y should we waste 80 mil. on bale wat we nid is defensive midfielder y dont u get it in u’r head for god’s sake
And are you thick in the head and don’t understand what the article suggests? Well you might be a ‘special need’ student so let me help. The article suggests that Mr Moyes claims to have ‘unlimited’ funds. Is that to difficult for you to “understand” ! Unlimited fund means we can buy Bale and recruit 1 or even 2 midfielders!
read first, comment later.
Hopefully Verratti hes exactly what we need can control a game at 20 years old, pick a pass long or short and can get into a tackle. Promote Nick Powell and give game time to Zaha and Januzaj, Lingard and Cole.
Depending on how reliable this article is, ok enough talk then Mr Moyes, now its time you delivered in the current transfer market. If you really do have unlimited funds then, why not start by making an official £80m cash offer for Gareth Bale – surely he is one of the best young players out there today, who would no doubt improve United and sort the left wing problem. Then, how about Dortmands highly rated midfielder Gundogan and Philip Lahm!
Than what the hell is wrong with you. What is stopping you to buy a single top class player.
Thiago,Nasir,Silva,Hazard,Moura …etc are all gone from our hands…You are not Sir Alex who can do win titles with what sort players he had.You need to sign Players soon.
You have change the entire staff of Man Utd. So change your attitude to sign your targets asap.
Valencia, Young,Nani,Anderson all useless and will fail again. Buy Hamsik,Munian,Reus and if possible bring back POGBA. If you have these four players this season.People wil appriciate you and than you can win the hearts of Man Utd……
+1 Well said.
Juned, You’re The Man.
United have only few Good Players.
We need to Sell and Buy Players with Footballing intelligence. More Grace.
I’m not sure this is true but its music to my ears if it is.Man utd should try to get vidal,de rossi, marchisio
