Barcelona confirm Fabregas doesn’t want to be sold this summer

by Sam Peoples

Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has confirmed that the club had received offers from other clubs for Cesc Fabregas but that the midfielder has no desire to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

Yesterday, Manchester United made a €30 million offer for Fabregas as Moyes made his first market move for a midfielder after missing out on Thiago Alcantara to Bayern Munich.

And despite only completing 90 minutes on 19 occasions last season, Vilanova insists that Fabregas is happy to continue playing at Barcelona.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, he said: “Cesc has received offers from other clubs. I talked with him and he told me he wants to stay. His dream is to triumph here.”

In complete contrast to the Thiago saga that dragged out, Vilanova has immediately responded to the Fabregas rumours to try and pour cold water on them straight away rather than letting them build up in intensity.

The strange part about our Fabregas bid is if the 26-year-old was our top priority this season as Denis Irwin recently claimed, why wait until yesterday to put in an official bid for him?

It is unlikely that Barcelona would want to let Thiago and Fabregas go in the same summer despite the likes of Sergi Roberto ready to come up from Barcelona B.

And given that Arsenal have a complicated contract with Barcelona over the potential future sale of Fabregas, it certainly wouldn’t be as simply as having a fee accepted by the club.

Although, Vilanova’s claims don’t end the possibility of Fabregas joining United. Wenger was adamant he was going to keep Van Persie for another year and that he would rather lose Nasri on a free than sell him, and on both occasions the player was sold but the difference was that the players wanted to leave.

Fabregas’ desire to stay at Barcelona is the determining factor in this potential transfer and so long as he wants to stay at the club, he won’t be going anywhere.

Most of United’s targets have been invented by journos so they are on the whole unlikely/impossible to come off… But United do need to pull their finger out because the longer it goes on the higher the price goes, because everyone thinks united need at least one midfielder badly..

LOL! I predicted this . Indecisiveness is killing the new management .

Now we have had two players turn us down so we have given impetus to the rest of Europe . Dortmund , spurs or any reasonable club will now stand their ground . You don’t go to the market and start going from shop to shop pricing every article you see , the shop owners would disregard you.

You go in with a plan of what you want to buy on a scale of preference, alternatives and best shop to visit. You then you walk in and get it . I think we don’t have a clear idea of what we want and haven’t weighing the reality of getting the chosen targets .

How would barca sell to united ? Seriously !!!!! Please if the Boss doesn’t have an idea of who to bring in, promote Powell and Tunniclife to the first team .

This pain is too much !!!!!!!!!

Moyes is very unrealistic, he failed to pursue thiago and why does he think he can get fabregas and why does he think Fabregas will choose Man Utd over Arsenal; and Why would Berca want to sell two midfielders in a season, though Fabregas has not been playing in central midfield but I think he feels like home and has been away from home, think about it.He will not like to move again from Spain to England. Find a more realistic report signing Mr. Moyes
