Van Persie gives United the green light for Fabregas move

Robin van Persie has welcomed Manchester United’s approaches for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas this summer.

The pair played together at Arsenal for eight years and have a great understanding of playing alongside each other.

David Moyes submitted an official transfer offer for the 26-year-old but Barcelona are standing firm that he will not be sold.

Despite that,  when asked if he would welcome Fabregas next season, Van Persie told reporters in Australia that he hoped a deal could be sorted.

“Of course [I’d like to see Fabregas at United], he’s a great player.”

Although Barcelona have reiterated that Fabregas will not be sold this summer, United submitted an improved £30 million bid for the midfielder yesterday and signaled their intent on bringing Fabregas to Old Trafford.

Recreating the partnership of Van Persie and Fabregas at United would be brilliant for the side but with Barcelona standing firm with their position on the midfielder, negotiations are likely to be a difficult and drawn out process.
