Barcelona reject United’s £30 million offer for Fabregas claim Spanish reports

Barcelona have rejected Manchester United’s improved second offer of £30 million for Cesc Fabregas according to Spain’s SPORT

The Spanish club did not officially reject the initial offer, merely claiming that Fabregas was unsellable, but SPORT believe that this improved second bid has been rejected.

However, SPORT were caught with their pants around their ankles over the Thiago saga. They claimed that the 22-year-old midfielder had already signed a deal and confirmation of the transfer was the only step left before he eventually signed for Bayern Munich, so don’t take SPORT’s word as gospel.

But if they are correct, it won’t stop their pursuit of Fabregas according to Andy Mitten.

He earlier suggested that United were willing to pay up to £40 million to secure Fabregas’ signature and given their very public approach of the Barcelona midfielder, I’d be surprised if they didn’t come back with another improved offer if this one was indeed rejected.

The money is clearly there to be spent as United’s approaches of Eden Hazard, Lucas Moura and the eventual signing of Robin van Persie show, so it is all down to whether Fabregas can envisage himself leaving Barcelona so soon after returning in order to secure more game time.
