PICTURE: United prepared to break club transfer record for midfielder

Manchester United are lining up a third bid for Cesc Fabregas reported to be £35 million after Barcelona rejected a second bid according to The Guardian.

The paper suggests that this bid could be the final roll of the dice for David Moyes if he wants to try and land Fabregas after admitting that a point does come when transfer negotiations can’t go any further.

Moyes did say that United would pursue their targets in the window but few could have expected him to be so open about his pursuit of Fabregas.

guardian-fabregas2If this third offer does go in at £35 million, it would eclipse United’s previous £30.75 million record signing Dimitar Berbatov and be above the €34 million Barcelona paid to Arsenal two years ago, which would give them a much needed cash influx after the purchase of Neymar.

Andy Mitten remained confident that United would be willing to spend up to £40 million to land the 26-year-old and The Guardian’s suggestions certainly back that sentiment up.

With Gerardo Martino linked with the Barcelona job and a new manager expected in the Nou Camp within the week, the club will make a decision after his arrival at the club.
