PICTURE: Manchester United’s 2013/2014 away kit officially launched

Manchester United have officially launched their 2013/2014 away kit that will be unveiled during the club’s visit to Osaka, Japan.

The gingham checks are a kick back to United’s 18th century industrial roots which was produced in Manchester and unlike the home kit, there is no Cantona inspired collar on the shirt.

When the checked away kit came in a couple of years ago, fans were aghast by it but it quickly grew on them. For me, last season’s white away kit was one of the best kits we have had in a few years and while this one isn’t as good, it always tends to look better on the team when they are playing.

I like this player version (authentic) away shirt. It seems, feels much smarter and comfortable than the copy (replica shirt) the fans will get to purchase. The colour for my own likings is too dark and I also prefer v.neck over the round neck. Overall, I rate last seasons 12/13 white away shirt better than this new away stripe and would give this new shirt a pass. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to voice my fears and disappointment. What a pity the shirts are of excellent quality but along with the club brand it as lost its player pulling power. Unless your RvP. The likes of Hazard, Moura, Alcantara and perhaps Cesc Fabregas soon!
