Manchester United’s latest signing Guillermo Varela is interested in moving to Boca Juniors in order to gain first team experience.
The 20-year-old is United’s only summer signing so far having signed a five year deal in a move from Uruguayan outfit Penarol.
But speaking with Tutto Mercato Web, Varela admitted that the prospect of getting a year of regular football would be a good move for his career.
“It could be a good solution,” he said.
“I would be able to play continuously for a year but I’d be always thinking about returning to United, who are a club that believed in me.”
This summer, Varela took part in the U20 World Cup in Turkey and had an impressive tournament that culminated in a runners-up medal after losing out to France in the final.
However, a loan move away would be the right move for him. Fabio has looked very strong on United’s pre-season tour and will likely be used as backup to Rafael by David Moyes, so Varela would have had very limited game time at Old Trafford.
Out at the U20 World Cup, Varela showed his natural attacking game but combined it with some disciplined defensive performances, so he has shown plenty of promise already and if he can succeed out in Argentina, then he could certainly challenge Rafael when he comes back.
