Wayne Rooney will not travel with Manchester United to Sweden today amid fierce speculation linking him with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

United today rejected a second bid from Chelsea for Rooney but Rooney’s absence will only fuel the speculation further.

The 27-year-old was expected to play his first game under David Moyes but Rooney injured himself in United’s behind closed doors fixture played earlier this week against Real Betis according to the manager.

swedenteam“Wayne hurt his shoulder in a fall during a match on Saturday,” he said.

“It’s not too serious & I don’t expect it to keep him out for too long.”

There are a host of other absentees from the squad such as David de Gea, Javier Hernandez and Antonio Valencia but they were expected unlike Rooney’s absence.

Surprisingly, Jesse Lingard and Adnan Januzaj have not traveled with the squad despite their impressive performances out in Asia.
