Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he has no desire to leave Barcelona for Manchester United this summer and has insisted he never thought about leaving.
The 26-year-old was the centre of huge speculation after David Moyes confirmed United submitted two bids for the midfielder that were flatly rejected by Barcelona.
His silence surrounding the rumours led many to believe that he was contemplating a move away from Spain in order to secure more first team football but speaking at a press conference on Barcelona’s pre-season tour of Asia, Fabregas put an end to the rumours.
“My dream has always been to play at Barcelona and nothing has changed,” he said.
“I’m very, very happy here and I never thought about leaving.”
Fabregas’ public admission puts an end to United’s pursuit of the midfielder that always seemed a long shot and it means that Moyes will have to look elsewhere to strengthen his midfield with Marouane Fellaini now being strongly linked to United.
