Manchester United dominate England squad to face Scotland

Eight Manchester United players have been called up to the England squad to face Scotland on 14 August.

Carrick, Cleverley, Jones, Rooney, Smalling, Welbeck and Young have all been chosen again by Roy Hodgson while United new boy Zaha has earned his second call up after an impressive pre-season tour.

Rooney has been included by Hodgson despite being sidelined with injury and hopes that he will be able to play against Scotland.

Speaking about Rooney’s inclusion, he said: “Rooney is not fully match fit but it was important for me to have him in the squad.

“I spoke to David Moyes and he understands.”
