Manchester United have made an enquiry to Anzhi Makhachkala about signing highly coveted winger Willian according to The Telegraph.
Liverpool are reportedly the favourites to sign the 25-year-old who previously admitted his dream was to win the Premier League and Manchester City have already had a €40 million bid rejected, but United have reportedly come in with a late move for him after the crisis at his current club.
Willian only joined the Russian side for €35 million from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk but Anzhi have been plunged into disarray after all foreign players in the team were told they are free to leave as owners look to cut down costs.
Last season, United were on the verge of signing Lucas Moura for a similar amount of money before getting forced out by the financial muscle of PSG, so there was a desire to bring in a winger and the money was available to spend.
Although the acquisition of Zaha has refreshed our winger department, bringing in another would give the squad a much greater depth given how poorly Valencia, Young and Nani played last season.
And unless he has a preference, Willian would no doubt prefer a move to Old Trafford rather than Anfield if he wants Champions League football and a crack at winning the Premier League next year.
