U18s: West Ham United 2-1 Manchester United

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United played their first game of the Barclays U18 Premier League season today and lost 2-1 to West Ham United away in Romford.

West Ham led from the third minute thanks to a strike from Lewis Page and doubled their lead just before half-time through Jerry Amoo.

United got a goal back late on through through the prolific James Wilson from the penalty spot but it wasn’t enough to avoid an opening day defeat.

Paul McGuiness’ side finished fourth in the league last season and with the likes of James Wilson, Andreas Pereira and Ben Pearson in the side this year, there are high hopes that United can win the league.

Next up for United is an away trip to Stoke City next weekend.
