Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher held their first Monday Night Football show last night as Manchester City stomped to a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United.
They might have not been the best of friends on the pitch but Sky Sports are hoping that they can work together well this season and bring some much needed tactical knowledge into England’s football punditry.
As expected, both had some well researched insight into the weekend of football but it was their discussion about Robin van Persie’s brace against Swansea that provided the best moment of the night thanks to some on-the-spot impromptu comedy from Neville. Fair play, Gary.
JC: …As we said, we’ve got sympathy for them but it is one striker against two centre backs.
GN: That’s the big problem for centre-backs. He’s a bit like a burglar in your house, you don’t know what room he is in.
JC: You’d be under the bed.
GN: You’d be the burglar.
