Gabriel Fernando has rejected the opportunity to join Manchester City on a scholarship and has hinted that he will move across Manchester to join United’s academy.
Earlier this week, Fernando tweeted a picture of him watching MUTV and also that he went to watch the U21s in action against Liverpool. Although he has since deleted both tweets, it is a strong hint that he will become the first David Moyes’ academy signing in his tenure as manager.
Not much is known about the 16-year-old Brazilian but he is a left footed attacking midfielder with some really quick feet and an eye for a through ball judging from this small compilation video of him in action for City’s academy.
As he isn’t 17, he is too young to sign professional terms. He is currently taking part in training with an unnamed club but all of his hints point towards signing a deal with United very soon.

Frederic Veseli made the move across Manchester last summer and while many fans felt he fared quite well in his first year, he was shipped out of the club. Hopefully if Fernando makes the move, he won’t befall the same fate.
