Marnick Vermijl is to be officially unveiled today by NEC Nijmegen on a season long loan deal according to Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander.
The 21-year-old has been one of Warren Joyce’s most consistent performers in the U21s side that has had plenty of success over the past few years and he deserves a loan move to secure more first team football.
He joined the first team squad on the 2012 tour and made his senior debut last year in the Capital One Cup against Newcastle before being given an appearance from the bench in United’s 5-4 loss to Chelsea.
Vermijl’s progression has not gone unnoticed and a move to the Eredivisie will be a great place for him to hone his skills and gain the valuable first team experience that playing for the U21s cannot offer.
The arrival of Guillermo Varela means that Joyce won’t be left without a regular right-back to play at U21 level and Vermijl isn’t close to knocking Rafael out of David Moyes’ side, so a loan move is right for all parties.
