Pictures have emerged of Wayne Rooney‘s head gash that ruled him out of Manchester United’s game against Liverpool on Sunday and England duty this week.
Rooney sustained the injury in a training accident when he collided with Phil Jones‘ studs at Carrington and stitches were required to stop it from bleeding.
The 27-year-old has not had much luck with injuries this season. He pulled out of the pre-season tour with a hamstring problem, was ruled out for a further few weeks with a shoulder injury and now missed Liverpool away, a game he probably looks for first in the calendar every year given his Evertonian past.
Although the gash does look severe, there are ten days until the next Premier League game against Crystal Palace so Rooney should heal up in time to take part in David Moyes’ second home game as United manager.
