Alexander Buttner has revealed that he is set to discuss a new contract with Manchester United after having a discussion with David Moyes.
The 24-year requested to leave Old Trafford on loan this season but his proposed move to Besiktas fell through on transfer deadline day.
Moyes has since sat down with Buttner to tell him that he will get plenty of games at United this season
When interviewed by Holland’s De Telegraaf, Buttner admitted he wanted to leave the club this year: “Yes. I asked Manchester United if they were willing to loan me to another club for a year. I wanted to play games, especially with the World Cup coming up next year.
“I was disappointed about the Besiktas loan. They were only club who were still interested in me until the end (of the transfer window). Besiktas is a beautiful club and I was supposed to play there every game.
“But now I need to turn the switch and focus myself here (Manchester United). Especially after I had such a positive conversation with the manager (David Moyes). He told me, I would get my games here as well.”
Buttner featured five times in the Premier League for United last season and secured a winners medal at the end of his debut campaign.
Under Moyes, it was expected that Fabio would get the opportunity to deputise for Evra but Buttner has been told he will be an important player this year for United and revealed that he is set to have talks about a new contract.
“Yes, that’s right [about a new contract]. I had a good season and the club saw that as well. We’re talking about my contract next week. That’s how much they appreciate me.” Alexander Buttner
He added: “He [Moyes] told me he didn’t want me to leave. He thought I was an important player for the group and thought I was an good player.

And Buttner wants to put as much effort into his performances this season as possible to try and secure a play in the Netherland’s squad ahead of the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
“I just hope van Gaal gives me an opportunity to show what I’m worth,” he added.
“I most certainly, won’t disappoint him. I certainly will show him, I’m good for that position (left-back). It’s a dream for me, to go to the World Cup. I think that’s the case, for every boy.
