United starlets Wilson and Pearson earn England call-up

James Wilson and Ben Pearson have been named in England’s Under-19s squad to face Slovenia next month by coach Noel Blake.

Wilson scored on his Under-19s debut against Estonia a few weeks ago and if he features against Slovenia, it will be his first competitive game for the Under-19s.

Wilson is on an incredible goalscoring run right now. He netted United’s dramatic winner in a thrilling 4-3 UEFA Youth League victory over Bayer Leverkusen last week and has already netted five times for United’s U18s this season.

Pearson, United’s Academy Player of the Year from 2012/13, has also been named in the squad that will meet up for the trip on Saturday 5 October before flying to Slovenia two days later.

Here is the squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Mitchell Beeney (Chelsea), Luke Coddington (Middlesbrough).

Defenders: Calum Chambers (Southampton), Leo Chambers (West Ham United), Jake Cooper (Reading), Isaac Hayden (Arsenal), Matthew Targett (Southampton), Adam Webster (Aldershot Town, on loan from Portsmouth).

Midfielders: Lewis Baker (Chelsea), Jordon Ibe (Liverpool), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea), Josh Murphy (Norwich City), Ben Pearson (Manchester United), John Swift (Chelsea).
