David Moyes urges Shinji Kagawa to improve

David Moyes praised Shinji Kagawa following his start against Liverpool but urged the 24-year-old to improve his all round performance as he returns to his full match fitness.

Kagawa was forced out wide by Moyes and at the start of the game, he struggled to influence proceedings but as the game continued, he started to get a foothold.

He played much better in the second half as he adopted a more central position and almost scored a brilliant individual goal after he spun a player before his 25 yard effort grazed the top of the crossbar.

Moyes was impressed with how Kagawa grew into the game but remains hopeful he will continue to get better.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 win, Moyes said: “He did OK. I thought he grew into the game a little bit more.

“There were bits which I was pleased with, and bits where we were looking for a little bit more. Overall, he’s still getting back.

“A lot’s been said (about his lack of playing time), but I think most people who watched would say he’s still short of being really at full match fitness.”

A collection of United fans have been calling for Kagawa to get more game time after the dismal performances of our wingers as of late.

Against Liverpool, Kagawa played well but he wasn’t the revelation many had hoped for as he is still yet to find his full match sharpness.

The more game time Kagawa gets, the faster his full fitness will return and when that happens, there are high hopes that the Japanese playmaker can become an integral part of David Moyes’ plans this season.
