De Gea has asked his agent to be open to Barcelona move in the future claim Mundo Deportivo

Mundo Deportivo have boldly claimed that David De Gea has asked his agent to be open to a future Barcelona move with a front page splash on tomorrow’s newspaper.

Barcelona are in the market for a goalkeeper as Victor Valdes will leave at the end of the season and De Gea’s name was strongly linked last year, so it is not a surprise to see it come up once again.

The 22-year-old has been in superb form for Manchester United for well over a year now after shaking off his troubled start at Old Trafford to become the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

While Mundo Deportivo may be overstretching the truth somewhat with their claims that De Gea has already asked his agent, unfortunately De Gea will likely want to move back to his native Spain at some point in the future.

The good news is that it doesn’t look like that time is now. He has established himself as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and is happy at United. After overcoming the early speed bumps, he has proven himself and won over his doubters. Right now, he is enjoying the result of his hard work.

Barcelona know that and Cesc Fabregas has now publicly spoken of how good a signing Pepe Reina would be for Barcelona.

“One of the things Pepe could bring is that he knows all of us,” he said.

“He brings a good atmosphere and is very experienced.”

By bringing in 31-year-old Reina, De Gea would be left alone at United for the time being. It would allow him to grow into the world class keeper we all know he will be but a few years down the line, United may be powerless to stop him returning to his home country.
