Ever since he arrived in a £7 million deal , Bebe struggled to live up to his price tag at Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was nowhere near good enough to get into the first team and even looked out of place at times with United’s Under-21s. His crossing performance against Wolves in 2010 typified how his career had gone at Old Trafford so far.
But against Oliveirense this weekend, Bebe put in a brilliant performance with three assists in Pacos’ 3-1 victory. He spearheaded their win despite only having nine men on the pitch.
Neat work down the left flank and a great cross to the back post led to Pacos opening the scoring, his volley was handled in the box for a penalty which was converted to make it two and a brilliant run down the left and neat square ball sealed the victory. It didn’t look anything like the Bebe we all know.
Last year, Bebe enjoyed a fruitful spell at Portuguese side Rio Ave and it looks like he is having another good loan this season. His crosses against Oliveirense were a far cry from the ones he did against Wolves and he has definitely improved in that respect.
Whether he will ever make it back at United remains to be seen but if he can continue to use loan spells like this to his advantage, there is no reason why he can’t get another chance to prove himself.
