Adnan Januzaj and Robin van Persie were all smiles at Manchester United’s training yesterday ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Real Sociedad.
For all the widespread rumours that United’s training is overly intense and bad for the players, they look pretty cheerful.
The pair didn’t look like two players who felt under any pressure at all in a picture uploaded to van Persie’s Instagram and against Southampton, they shared an embrace after Januzaj’s inch perfect through ball presented van Persie with the chance he scored from.
Together, they could have a really fruitful partnership at United this year. Both are craftsman with the ball at their feet and have the intelligence and ability to find a pass that splits the defence, something United have been in desperate need of. If Januzaj can provide the pass, it would allow van Persie to stay further up the pitch to finish off the chance.
There may be 12 years between them in age but they are on the same wavelength when it comes to football, something that could see their relationship both on and off the pitch blossom. The early signs indicate that they compliment each other’s games, a trend that will hopefully continue against Sociedad today if both play.
