David Moyes confirms good and bad injury news for Manchester United

Robin van Persie and Marouane Fellaini are both available for selection against Stoke this weekend but Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley are still recovering from injuries.

David Moyes has confirmed that van Persie has a ‘good chance’ of playing on Saturday but only went as far as saying he should be OK after taking part in some training, which indicates that he hasn’t fully recovered just yet.

“Robin has a good chance,” he told reporters at a press conference this afternoon.

“He’s had problems with his toes and a little bit with his groin as well, but I think he should be OK. He’s had a little bit of training as well.

“Everybody’s improving and the only one who’s a doubt at the moment is Danny Welbeck, who has some fluid on his knee. Tom Cleverley is still recovering from his calf but overall we’re pretty strong.”

The sooner United have Cleverley back the better. When he is in the team, we look so much more controlled in possession and while he has his critics, he does add something unique that other midfielders at United don’t.

Moyes also insisted that Fellaini would be fit to play despite looking out of form following his wrist injury.

He added: “It’s never easy when you have an injury that needs something doing to it.

“People who play football will tell you you use your hands and arms quite a lot for balance and pushing off, so it can be awkward when you’ve got an injury.

“But he is fine, he’s getting used to it now and hopefully he can play even in the condition he’s in.”

United played fantastic against Real Sociedad in midweek and hopefully we can put in a similar performance against Stoke.

We used the pressing game to good effect against Stoke and now may be the time where Moyes utilises it in the Premier League.
