Midfield starlet who left United this summer crowned Talent of the Year in Norway

Mats Møller Dæhli has topped off an excellent week by scooping the Statoil Talent of the Year Award.

In the four months since he joined Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Molde, Dæhli managed to win the monthly award twice in both October and November before now winning the overall award.

He donated the overall prize of 100,000 Norwegian Krone (roughly £10,500) to his former club Lyn.

His talent has seen him called up to the Norwegian senior squad for their friendlies against Denmark and Scotland at just 18. The manager of the national side Per-Mathias Høgmo feels that leaving United was a good move for the rising star and given how fantastic the last four months has gone for him, it is hard not to agree.

“I think it was wise to travel to Molde,” he said.

“There is a good training environment and good culture to develop players.”

Although Molde had a disappointing season finishing fifth in the Tippeligaen, there’s still the chance that Dæhli could help them lift some silverware this season with a cup final to play in just two weeks time.

Well done Mats.
