Keane: Januzaj is the perfect example to follow at Manchester United

Will Keane has pointed towards the successes of Adnan Januzaj as inspiration for himself when it comes to breaking through into Manchester United’s senior squad.

The 20-year-old has made a strong return to Manchester United’s Under-21s after a year long lay off following his cruciate knee ligament injury and has subsequently been linked with a loan move to Wigan that would see him play alongside Nick Powell.

At United, he is one of the most highly rated prospects we have in the academy and speaking to Inside UnitedKeane admitted he wanted to use the example of Adnan Januzaj‘s rise to the first team as inspiration for him.

“Januzaj is a perfect example [to follow],” he said.

“He’s had his chances and has taken it.”

Keane’s injury was terribly timed as his exploits with the Reserves had earned him a provisional spot in the first team squad for last year and a place on tour only for both to be ripped from his hands due to injury.

Prior to his injury, Keane was making great strides towards his spot on the bench and now that he has made what looks like a full return to fitness, he will push on to try and achieve that again.

In many respects, his situation mirrored that of Januzaj who had earned himself a spot on the West Bromwich Albion bench in Ferguson’s last game.

He is such a naturally talented goalscorer that finding the net again won’t be difficult again for him and if he focuses on regaining full fitness and match sharpness, it could be him that features on the bench before the end of the season.
