Mike Phelan has claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson was nothing more than a figurehead at Manchester United for the last five years and that he was in fact the head honcho at Old Trafford.
The 51-year-old has made himself look very bitter since he left United in the summer following the changes that David Moyes brought in.
Earlier this month, he said that Ferguson chose his teams by flipping a coin and now he has tried to undermine what Ferguson did for the club by stating that he was the boss with the title of assistant boss.
“With the way things have gone, my first thoughts are to be a boss,” Phelan told The Mirror.
“That’s what I’ve been doing for the last five years, albeit with the title of assistant boss.
“He [Ferguson] was the head of the establishment, there’s no doubt about it and rightly so. He didn’t get to where he’s got through not being a big decision maker, but he’ll be the first to admit that a lot of people played their part in that.
“We all were undercover in that respect. We weren’t the face of what was going on, but that was our job.
“You were decision making so I’m more than capable of handling that.”
I know Phelan is desperate to get back into work but to try and undermine the successes of Ferguson by claiming he delegated most of his duties away from himself is ridiculous.
We know you’re feeling lonely Phelan but there’s no for tomfoolery Phelan, your foolish retorts in your thigh high tight shorts are making you look like a villain Phelan.
