Manchester United handed tough FA Cup draw against Premier League opposition

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have been drawn against Swansea in the Third Round of the FA Cup.

The current Capital One Cup holders will visit Old Trafford in what will be a tough game for United. It isn’t really a surprise to see United drawn against Premier League opposition given our luck with domestic cup draws in recent years.

The last eight cup draws for United have been Chelsea, Reading, Fulham, West Ham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester City and Arsenal. We never do it the easy way.

A good domestic cup run would do wonders for United this season as any silverware in Moyes’ first season will get him used to winning silverware at the club. Let us not forget it was Ferguson’s FA Cup triumph in 1989 that helped turn around his own fortunes at Old Trafford, so the importance of a cup run cannot be underestimated.

The game will be played at the start of January.
