David Moyes has made it clear that he isn’t afraid to get rid of some players at Manchester United in order to freshen up the squad.
Although there is real strength in some areas of the squad, there are a few players at Old Trafford who haven’t ever lived up to their price tag such as Anderson, Ashley Young and Bebe who could all be shown the exit door if the price is right.
“I think that we’re getting to a situation now where there are a few players here, who, if we got the right offer for them, we would let them go,” Moyes said.
“I don’t know if we’d loan anyone. Would we sell? If the right offers were there, we’d probably look at it.
“I’ve tried to make sure I’ve given an opportunity to everybody so far this season.
“Not everyone has had as many games as they would have liked, but I have wanted to see everybody play.
“Maybe we would have looked to have moved a few players out last summer, but you can only do that if you get clubs that come in and are interested.”
In many respects, knowing that Moyes is ready to ship out some deadwood from United is just as positive as hearing he wants to sign new players.
The only way United is really going to strengthen the squad is by improving the quality throughout and if that means replacing some players, then it is the best thing he can do and it would also stamp his authority on a team he inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson.
